Devil's Den
Saturday was forecasted to get up to the upper 60's. We thought that it would be nice to check out a new state park and have a picnic. The only state park nearby that we haven't visited yet was Devil's Den State Park. Devil's Den is known for it's caves and bats. We were excited to check it out. When we got there we found out that the caves are closed because of the threat of White Nose Syndrome. White Nose Syndrome has killed off over a million bats in the north east and Devil's Den State Park is trying to protect their bats. Although we couldn't explore the caves, we enjoyed our hike and picnic. The kids had a great time playing at the playground as well. The only disappointing part about the hike/picnic was that a lot of other people were taking advantage of the great weather too. The place was packed with people, and, to Maeve's delight, biker cycles!
