Graduating from preschool and reading chapter books

Although Kent has been a fluent reader for quite a while, he hasn't taken much interest yet in chapter books. However, last week Kent discovered Roald Dahl.   In just three days Kent read Charlie and the Chocolate Factory all by himself! He loved it!  Afterwards we watched the Johnny Depp version of the movie.  We didn't like it as much as the original- Johnny Depp just wasn't as good at being Willy Wonka as Gene Wilder.  Today Kent finished Matilda.  I think I know what movie we will watch on our next family movie night!

Getting ready to graduate...

The kids and their mortar boards

Kent really enjoyed his graduation.  He sang some songs, got a medal and a diploma, received a certificate for being the student to most likely become an ornithologist, and had his very own cake shaped like a puppy wearing a mortar board.  It was a special day!

Watch out Kindergarten here comes Kent!
