Back to school

This summer went too fast! It is hard to believe that we have already finished the first week back at school.  How is it possible that Kent is in 2nd grade and Maeve is in Young fives?  Kent keeps saying, "Can you believe that I am already in 2nd grade? It seems like I was just in kindergarten." I agree.  However, so far things are going pretty well and the kids are adjusting to our new schedule.

Kent update: Kent is so excited to be in 2nd grade with the same kids this year.  He loves his friends so much! His teacher is Maestra Kornelis.  She is really young but she seems really on the ball. His only complaint is that math too easy.  Quote: "The math is ridiculous. 3+9? In 2nd grade? Give me a break!" Oh well. Kent is also playing soccer this fall and he is REALLY excited about his first game tomorrow.  He is feeling proud that his name for the soccer team is the one that got chosen. They are the Black Pumas (he originally thought the black panthers would be a good name). Kent's favorite things are pizza, candy (anything sweet), Phineas and Ferb, Diary of Wimpy Kid books, Calvin and Hobbs, Garfield, Charlie Brown (Peanuts), riding his bike with his friends and anything that might terrify me and be too dangerous.

Maeve update: Maeve has been looking forward to young fives for the past 6 months or so.  However, she tends to build things up so much that she ends up disappointed. After the first day of school she was feeling sad that there weren't the right kinds of bars to do gymnastics on the playground, someone knocked over her tower during choice time, and she hadn't found a best friend yet. Poor Maeve. However, today she had her first art class in school and she starts gymnastics after school so she is feeling good about those things.  Maeve's favorite things are salami and cheese, tomatoes, dancing, gymnastics, singing songs from musicals and songs that she makes up, talking about her American girl doll; Molly, talking about fairies, talking about inventing a machine to shrink herself to fairy size, and talking about Cherry the chihuahua that she is going to get when she is a teenager. Basically, Maeve does a lot of talking.
